Problems at J C Bose Hostel

This hostel is given to the toppers of B.Sc 3 rd yr. instead of it there are a many problems like :-

1) absence of mess

2) lack of cleanliness

3)and the biggest is that, here most of the students are not provided with cot and they are compelled to sleep on ground

4) there is no any aqua guard, freezer is there but it is without aqua guard

with so many problems, we are still living.

I personally wrote a application to DEAN OF STUDENTS  of BHU, but that application was rejected by his secretories, they told that you first get signed your application by your warden then come to us. And warden is not signing the application since he  has told us that cots are not avialable at BHU so we can’t provide you manage personally. And cot is needed by us, we can’t sleep on floor/ground snakes wander during night hours in lawn and in gallaries.

Water, water everywhere….

No one is unaware of the rain that struck Varanasi …
It rained cats and dogs for 12 hours. The entire city turned into an ocean and cars into boats.
BHU was not an exception… Water flooded the entire campus.
Water started flowing in hostels. One one hand few were enjoying the moment where as on the other hand some were annoyed with the constant pouring. We started playing water games at the hostel’s garden. On going to the department, the scene was the same.
BHU is situated at one of highest places from sea level in the city. It was unusal to witness water logging overhere.

Caste Colour to Varsity Blues

Half Caste ChildWhile reading on Internet I came across the following article on Tehelka.com. Just wanted to share with you so quoting a extract from it here…rest you can read on by clicking here.

RAJESH KUMAR Mishra, Congress MP from Varanasi, is leading a campaign against casteism at his alma mater Banaras Hindu University (BHU), alleging that its Vice-Chancellor Dr Panjab Singh has appointed Rajputs to all important posts and new recruitments. The “Thakurvaad” in BHU has Varanasi’s Brahmin academics up in arms, the Prime Minister’s Office has been requested to order an inquiry and fingers have been pointed at Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, himself a Thakur from Madhya Pradesh.

In a letter to the press, Mishra has accused Panjab Singh not only of caste bias in appointments but also of nepotism, financial irregularities and saffronisation and of violating the Banaras Hindu University Act, 1915, in the process. The letter includes a list of appointments of 105 teachers made since May 2005, all of whom are Thakurs. This is alleged to be about 30 percent of the total teaching appointments in the same period. However, these are allegedly concentrated in a few departments. Says a dissenting academic in Varanasi, “Of the available seats, 22.5 percent are reserved, so the percentage of Thakurs among the general category who have been appointed is inordinately high.” <Read More>.

I am not sure if the story is true or not, but castesim is really growing at a ferocious pace everywhere. Might be BHU has also come under its influence. I wish things go better from here on. I will like to see comments of the people on this topic to see what masses at BHU think.

Long Queues — BHU’s characteristic feature

One of the most chaotic days of Faculty of Science was when B.Sc. second year results were out. There was a flood of students at dean’s office. You know you are in BHU when you come across looooooooooooooooong queues. In country like India, which is so technologically sound, I think that the university can atleast afford to publish the results online to avoid long queus and rush of students.

Anyways it was really worth a picture.

“Mechanized two wheelers” banned

During admission the freshers gave a disclaimer that they wont use “mechanized two wheelers” in the campus. As far as I have known “mechanized two wheelers” include bicycles too. Does that mean the students aren’t allowed to ride bicycles as well (along with mobikes) ???

If thats the case then let me tell you freshers you are going to have a very tough time in the university.

What’s the role of guardian in ragging ?

I really cant figure out what happens to the proctorial board whenever there are new admissions at Institute of Medical Sciences. Everybody knows that this is the season of admissions in the entire university and IMS is no exception.

This year we are asked to sign a form that we wont rag freshers. Fine, this much was justified. But its ridiculous to get the form signed by our parents too. This is simply too much.

We are adults now and such matters (specially something like ragging) shall be concerned with us only. All seniors are travelling way down their homes to get the form duly signed by their parents. This is simply wastage of valuable time and money.

Discrimination among students

It has been 2 years since I am in this university. During these two years I have realized that the students who live in the city are cut off from the hostellers. As a consequence there is a formation of two groups (atleast in my faculty), one of the hostellers and another of the city students. Many times I have found myself neglected when it came to participating in various activities because the hostellars dominated and I lived in the city. I request everyone to fill this gap so that no fresher suffers in future.
